Meet Laura: Luminous, Light-hearted, Full of Love
/Hi, everyone!! It’s me, Laura. You know—the one who does the yoga. I’m the founder of Luminous Yoga, where our philosophy is Yoga On! What’s that mean? For starters, it’s all about Yoking to Bliss. What’s that? Allow me to explain.
I believe that through the consistent practice of yoga, meditation, and breath work, anything is possible. If you stick with it, if you put in the work, if you stay true to yourself and your practice, you’ll feel the benefits. Mentally, physically, spiritually. That’s what Yoga On! means. It means unrolling your mat in the morning, even when you’re still half-asleep. It means making it to that evening class after work, even though you’re ready for a glass of wine (or three). It means committing to your practice, showing up as often as you can, making time and space, even if you have a million excuses. Yoga On! no matter what.
All you have to do is show up. It’s easy. It’s also the hardest part. Believe me, I know. I struggle to follow through on commitments all the time. The most frustrating part is that it can be hard to commit even to those things we love. Like our yoga practice. But it’s so worth it. The hard things usually are. Through the practice, the light in your heart shines bright.
Why yoga, though? Why not commit to practicing the violin, or embroidery, or running every day? For me, there is no feeling like leaving a great yoga class. Grounded, present, awake, aware. I feel connected not only to myself, but to the community around me. The other people in my class, the people walking around outside when I leave, the whole world of sentient beings! That’s what I mean by Yoking to Bliss. The word “yoga” comes from a Sanskrit root meaning “to yoke.” As in, to unite or connect or join in a close relationship. Through yoga, we become connected to everything. We become connected to happiness, to bliss.
This is why I practice yoga. Nothing against the violin, or embroidery, or running every day. If one of those are your thing, great! If yoga sounds like something you want to try, then you’ve come to the right place!
I’m here to help with your practice, whether you’re just getting started or you’re already standing on your head. I offer a variety of public classes, catering to all levels. I keep my calendar updated with the latest opportunities to catch a class. I also teach private classes, which allow me to design a practice specifically with you in mind. If you are really looking to take your mental and physical health to the next level, private classes are a great option. Contact me for more information!
I’ve been talking a lot about commitment—so why don’t I lead by example and make a commitment to you? Every month, I’ll do my best to bring you a newsletter that serves you and interests you. If you haven’t already, sign up now!!! It’ll be full of the kind of yoga information that I love to learn, and that hopefully you’ll love, too. Everything from a “Pose of the Month,” with an alignment breakdown, to great yoga books I’ve been reading, to delicious recipes that are affordable, easy to make, and nourishing for the body and soul. I make a great bowl of zucchini spaghetti and black bean “meat”-balls!! Let me know what topics you want covered—and they’ll probably show up next month!!!
I appreciate you being here and supporting me. I am very excited to share with you all that I’m learning. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Let’s start this journey of health, happiness, success, and love together!!!
